AT THURSDAY, AUGUST 26TH WINDSOR CONCERT ON THE GREEN
Rock Solid Alibi Performs at Final Live Concert of the Season
WINDSOR, CONN., August 24, 2021 – Concertgoers at the Thursday, August 26th Windsor Concert on the Green are encouraged to bring nonperishable food that will be donated to the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank and the Windsor Pet Food Pantry at the Windsor Animal Shelter. On that day, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Rock Solid Alibi will play live Rock & Roll at the Windsor Town Hall lawn on Broad St. as part of weekly free concert series presented by First Town Downtown. (The rain date is the Tuesday after).
The Windsor Food & Fuel Bank’s most needed items include peanut butter and jelly, spaghetti sauce & pasta, macaroni and cheese, canned meats, crackers, cereal, baked beans, canned vegetables, canned fruit, fruit juice, coffee, tea and hot chocolate, and condiments such as ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise. The nonprofit organization also seeks personal care items such as paper towels, facial tissues, toilet paper, and diapers and baby wipes. The Windsor Pet Food Pantry seeks small bags of dry cat and dog food, and canned pet food.
The August 26th community food drive for people and pets is coordinated by Joyce and Dick Armstrong of Windsor, who also are one of that evening’s concert sponsors. “Time after time, Windsor residents have stepped forward to support one another, especially those who are in need of assistance with food or energy,” explains Joyce Armstrong, a member of the Windsor Food & Fuel Bank’s volunteer-run Board. “Dick and I believe that if we make it really easy for people to bring food items to a free concert, then many of our neighbors will help.”
“Since this concert is the final Thursday evening concert of the season, we hope the attendance will be large…and generous,” says Dick Armstrong, Joyce’s husband. “Volunteers will accept donations of items and funds for these organizations at tables near the stage.”
People can bring lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy an evening of Rock & Roll with Rock Solid Alibi. These Connecticut music veterans will bring the best in music from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and 1990s, including primo cuts from The Allman Brothers, The Cars, Eric Clapton, ZZ Top, Joe Jackson, The Ramones, and John Cougar Mellencamp. The August 26th concert is sponsored by the Windsor Historical Society, Dick and Joyce Armstrong, and Jordan Dental.
