Food Assistance

Food Assistance
The Windsor Food Bank is open four days a week and provides supplemental food assistance to Windsor residents in need. It is staffed by one Town of Windsor Social Services Staff member, coordinated by Windsor Social Services, and many wonderful volunteers. Funds for the food bank are made available through various fund raising efforts by the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank. Much of the food is, either purchased from Connecticut Foodshare, or donated via food drives organized by the Windsor Food and Fuel Bank and the Windsor Community.

The Food Bank is made possible through community-based food drives and donations from Windsor residents, businesses, schools, civic organizations, religious institutions and many more. With monetary donations, we are able to obtain food in bulk from Connecticut Foodshare at a greatly reduced price. The Food Bank is stocked with dry and canned goods as well as fresh fruits, vegetables and frozen meat.

Located at L.P. Wilson Community Center (599 Matianuck Avenue, Windsor, CT), the Windsor Food Bank currently assists 451 registered households with supplemental food.

To qualify to use the Food Bank services, you must be a Windsor resident and meet certain financial eligibility guidelines. Please visit the Social Services website to view the application. Applications must be submitted in person, at the Food & Fuel Bank, or at the Social Services Department. Food Bank Hours are: Monday & Tuesday- 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM
Wednesday & Thursday - 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM and 5:00 PM to 6:45 PM on the 4th Thursday of every month.
