Weekend Wheels Backpack Program Receives $1,220 in Funding from the Archbishop’s Annual AppealWe are pleased to announce that our partner program, the Weekend Wheels Backpack Program, received a check in the amount of $1,220.00 from the Archbishop’s Annual Appeal through its Vicariate Outreach Program.
This very generous donation will help the Weekend Wheels program continue its mission of providing a backpack filled with foods to elementary school children whose families are in need of food assistance. Many children who participate in free or reduced meals through the school week may be lacking on the weekends. This program helps to fill that void for families.
“The Weekend Wheels program is thrilled to receive this funding from the Archbishops Annual Appeal Vicariate Outreach Program. We are expanding our program this year and these funds will really help with our food inventory costs. 100% of these funds will go toward the purchase of food to help make a difference in the lives of children in need in our community. By having proper nourishment thru the weekend, children can come to school Monday morning focused and ready to learn,” says Program Coordinator, Susan Nunes.
